My Teen Daughters Love This Lip Balm Because Its Subtle, Glossy Glow 'Lasts Forever' (2025)

As the mom of teenage daughters, I have two choices: hold on to my outdated Maybelline foundation that's two shades too dark or simply embrace the fact that the next generation knows makeup better than I ever will. Whether it's lash extension-esque mascara for $5 or skincare I've never heard of, I'm constantly learning about new beauty products from my teens.

And one product that's a constant refrain in my house is the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm. It would be an understatement to say my girls are obsessed with it—they carry theirs everywhere, and my 14-year-old even picked up a new shade this week for her upcoming birthday. According to them, the lip balm is "lucious," plumps up your lips, and is long-lasting enough to make it worth the splurge.

If you're wondering what on earth would justify paying nearly 20 bucks for a lip balm, you’re not alone (I also have that thought). My teens have convinced me that Laneige Lip Glowy Balm is 100% worth it because it has tons of shine and gloss and is an extremely long-lasting product.

"It’s lasted me forever," my 16-year-old swears. "I got it last year and it’s still living even though I did the 100 layers challenge at school." (The 100-layer challenge, for the millennials among us, is pretty much what it sounds like: she applied 100 layers in a row to her lips, and yes, I am thrilled to hear my money is being so well spent.)

Aside from its longevity, my daughter also likes how well-designed the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm is to take along with her wherever she goes. "I take it with me to every class," she reports. "It's lightweight and fits in my pocket."

During our shopping trip for a new Laneige lip balm, my 14-year-old and I also discovered the brand released some brand-new flavors, like mango, peach iced tea, and sweet candy. We also scoped out the new Laneige Graze Craze Tinted Lip Serums, which we noticed have different applicators—the glowy Laneige lip balms have an angled applicator, while the Graze Craze options are flat, which she didn't love. (I'm not entirely sure why the applicators are different, but the Graze Craze are official lip-plumping serums, while the Glowy Balms are not, so I'm assuming that has something to do with it.)

In the end, she went with the traditional Laneige, and I am taking my daughters' word that the lip balm investment will be a lasting one. Although my 14-year-old also confesses that it's such a popular product that all of her friends try to use hers, so we may need to look at some of these other teen-approved options on Amazon as well.
